Inspiring Change, One Story at a Time
Stories that connect. Ideas that inspire. Conversations that encourage change.
I’m Lisa M. Billingham, an author, inspirational speaker and creative writing facilitator from the West Midlands.
I believe that a story can do more than entertain us.
It can make us think.
It can help us see ourselves differently.
It can give us the courage to try something new.
And sometimes, it can remind us that we are capable of more than we realise.
Through my talks, I combine storytelling, personal experience and practical ideas to create warm, engaging and thought-provoking experiences for audiences.
What I Speak About
My talks can be adapted to suit your audience, event and objectives.
💛 Confidence & Self-Belief
Confidence doesn’t always mean feeling fearless.
Sometimes it means taking the next step even when you’re unsure of yourself.
I share stories and practical ideas to encourage people to recognise their strengths, challenge self-doubt and believe in their own potential.
✨ Self-Love & Being Yourself
It’s easy to compare ourselves with other people or feel that we need to be someone we’re not.
My talks explore the importance of accepting who we are, recognising our own worth and having the confidence to be authentic.
✍️ The Power of Writing & Creativity
Writing can be much more than putting words on a page.
It can be a way to explore ideas, express emotions, develop confidence and discover something new about ourselves.
I share how creative writing became an important part of my own journey and how creativity can open doors to self-expression and personal growth.
🌱 Personal Growth & Positive Change
Change can be exciting, uncomfortable and sometimes unexpected.
Through stories from my own experiences and writing journey, I explore how moments of change can become opportunities to learn, grow and move forward.
📖 The Power of Stories
Stories connect us.
They allow us to experience other people’s perspectives, recognise parts of ourselves and imagine different possibilities.
As an author, I have seen first-hand the impact a story can have on both the person who writes it and the person who reads it.
My Story
My own writing journey began in 2020 when I wrote my debut novel, Katie, A New Chapter.
What began as a personal writing project became the start of a completely new chapter in my life.
Since then, I have gone on to write books for adults and children, develop creative writing workshops and share my experiences through speaking and storytelling.
My journey has taught me that you don’t have to have everything worked out before you begin.
Sometimes you simply need to take the first step.
That message sits at the heart of my speaking work.
More Than a Talk
I don’t believe an inspirational talk should simply be something people listen to and then forget when they leave the room.
Where appropriate, I make my sessions interactive, giving audiences opportunities to reflect, participate and connect with the ideas being discussed.
Depending on the event, this might include:
- Audience questions
- Short reflective exercises
- Creative activities
- Storytelling
- Discussion
- Practical ideas to take away
The format can be adapted to suit your audience, whether you’re looking for a keynote-style talk, an interactive session or something more informal.

I can tailor my talks for a variety of audiences and settings, including:

What Your Audience Can Take Away
My aim is for people to leave with something meaningful.
Perhaps a new perspective.
Perhaps an idea they want to explore.
Perhaps the confidence to take a small step.
Or simply the reminder that their story matters too.
